"On parle souvent d'"émergence chorégraphique", façon concentrée de nommer les jeunes chorégraphes qui arrivent « sur le marché » avec leurs dynamismes, leurs idées, leurs originalités, leurs envies... et qui pour certains professionnels sont régulièrement reliés à un autre terme très en vogue, l'innovation. Émergence et innovation : voilà ce que l'on demande souvent dans le paysage artistique, en ce qui nous concerne chorégraphique, comme si les « produits » devaient être aussi alléchants que possible quant aux multi-goûts estimés d'un panel ciblé de consommateurs. Trépidantes perspectives ! Et si nous parlions des artistes moins jeunes, voire plus jeunes du tout, qui ont été acteurs du développement de l'art chorégraphique, porteurs, majeurs, pionniers, un jour remerciés... parfois même oubliés... dont certains encore battants, engagés aujourd'hui comme jamais, fondamentalement. Perspectives ? Bien trop minces... Un Tours d'horizons pour une émergence de mémoires, avec des chorégraphes qui transmettent, qui réfléchissent, qui pensent et militent, forts de leurs parcours. Avec des chorégraphes qui apprennent, qui s'inspirent, qui croisent, qui cherchent. Par les temps qui courent, alors que la culture est loin d'être au cœur des débats, regarder plus souvent et plus finement le passé, apprendre et prévenir en sachant recevoir ce qu'il peut nous transmettre. Et pourquoi pas, déjà à notre endroit, avec des chorégraphes de tous les âges qui créent et qui partagent ? Je vous souhaite de belles rencontres avec ces artistes singuliers qui œuvrent chaque jour à leur manière, à la visibilité, à la diversité, et à la transmission sensible de l'art chorégraphique.

"We often hear of "emerging choreography", a generic name tag for young choreographers who arrive "on the market" with their dynamics, their ideas, their originalities, their desires... and who, for some professionals, are often linked to another fashionable term: Innovation. To be emerging, to innovate: that's what's generally in demand on the art market, and, in our case, on the choreography one - as if the "products" had to be as attractive as possible because of the supposed multiple and fickle tastes of targetted, spoiled consumers. Exciting perspectives indeed! And if we were to talk about the not-so-young artists? Or even of the not-at-all-young-no-more? Those who were part and parcel of choreography development; those bearers, lighthouses, pionneers - who may have been thanked and written off, sometimes even forgotten - hey, some of them are still here, striving, as fundamentally committed today as they ever were! Perspectives? Much too slim... So here's to a Tours d'horizons that lets memory emerge, with choreographers who transmit, who reflect, who think and who make a stand, with all the experience they gleaned along their ways... choreographers who learn, who are inspired, who cross pathways and who investigate. In this day and age, when culture is far from being at the heart of the debate, how about looking more often at the past, and with cleaner glasses, too? Let's see what can be learnt from it, knowing how to receive what it can transmit. And why not learn with choreographers of all ages, who create and who know how to share? I hope you enjoy meeting with these extraordinary artists who work every day, each one in her or his own way, towards clarity, diversity, and sensitive outreach, in choreography as an art.
